Fourth time is a charm

We’ve had some amazingly warm Sundays in Cape Town this Winter. Now that I have a blog I am able to recognize patterns like these. I browsed back a bit and found that we had sunny Sundays here, here and here. Today was a repeat of that glorious weather and as usual I had to take advantage by wearing something reminiscent of Summer. This time I wore a dress with a T-shirt underneath. When Summer comes I’ll lose the T-shirt.

My boyfriend who is my photographer is out of town :( so my younger brother, who is 12, agreed to take some pictures of me. I think he did quite a good job. He actually enjoys taking pictures very much and often calls himself a “little photographer”.

I hope you had a lovely weekend. I enjoyed mine, but I planned to be more productive. I guess that’s what week days are for right?

Classic vs Trendy

My friend’s wedding as well as some unfortunate and very old pictures of me on Facebook got me thinking. I love following trends as much as the next girl, but perhaps for important occasions like weddings and matric balls it is best to go for a more classic look. I remember wearing a very trendy outfit to a matric ball and I looked great on the night. Now when I look at the pics I cringe!

What could be more classic than the LBD? The ladies wearing LBDs in the Facebook pictures looked stylish and chic, which is much more than I can say for myself. It certainly does stand the test of time. This is what I wore to another friend’s wedding earlier this year. I think that these won’t make me cringe in years to come.

Recent buys

I haven’t had much luck in terms of shopping lately. I am an extremely fussy shopper so this could very well be the reason! I did however, find some new accessories which I was happy to buy since I feel I don’t have many. Here are some snaps I took of my recent purchases:

Flower ring and necklace bought by Smac at YDE. For the South Africans who do not know yet YDE is currently having their 50% off sale and all Smac accessories are at half price. They have some pretty pieces!

I got one item that is not an accessory. Thanks to my friend Wendy! It’s a boob-tube choc dress with ribbon from Foschini. I hope there is an occasion to wear it to very soon.

So, tell me what have you bought lately?

Winter wedding

One of my girlfriends got married on Saturday and it was a truly lovely event. It’s always great to see loved ones get married.

She requested that I match the colours of the wedding which was an assortment of creams and browns. I a wore faux fur and high-heeled oxfords. Faux fur is definitely easy to wear as it does not need much accessories as it is quite eye-catching on its own. She said she loved the outfit, so mission was accomplished.
