Here are some more of my favourite stands at the Design Indaba. Now that I am looking at these pics I am getting serious buyer’s regret. I wish I had bought those brogues and that vintage necklace and that clock…

Design Indaba Expo – Part 1

Rueben and I went to the Design Indaba Expo at the Cape Town Convention Centre yesterday. I definitely enjoyed it. It was inspiration galore under one roof. I’ve seen so many South African brands online, but never got around to going to the shops where their goods are sold. The Indaba was a brilliant way of having all these brands under one roof. I’d definitely recommend it. I am just happy I didn’t spend my whole month’s salary!

Rueben took some snaps of my favourite stands and I thought I’d show them to you in two posts since there are so many pics! All of these shops sell online if not by online shop then via email.

Bye bye 2010, Hello 2011

So it is the last day of the year and how can I not reflect and recap? I think the main theme of 2010 for me was discovery. That is the discovery of new things and the rediscovery of things I love. I hope to continue with this theme for 2011. I hope you end this year off with a bang and start the new year with happiness and positivity. Thanks for taking the time to read, comment and support my little blog. You are a big part of what made my year very special.

So, that’s the reflecting and now for the recapping. Since I am such a shoe lover, I thought I’d round up some of my favourite shoes that I wore this year. I definitely plan on expanding my shoe collection next year and I hope you do too!

Spring, where are you?

Cape Town weather has gone back to wind and rain. That means my Spring dresses have to stay unused. I can’t say that I am very happy about this, but I suppose I can wait a bit longer. I looked to past outfits for some inspiration and found this. I wore this earlier in the year and it makes me look forward to warmer weather.

I actually wore this dress here, so this serves as much my own little remix. I hope you have a lovely weekend!

What I Bought at the Mill

I could probably write a thesis about shoes, so I’ll try to keep this short! I bought these lovely sandals at the Biscuit Mill last Saturday. They are handmade and genuine leather sandals by Kate & Allie. I was so happy to find them as I have been searching for a pair of flat leather sandals. For me, a pair of flat leather sandals are essential for the South African Summer. There is nothing like leather because it looks good and lasts long. There are lots of leather sandals in the shops now but I specifically love these because they are:

  • comfy, ie. the sole is padded not just a thin surface like so many sandals these days have.
  • more classic than trendy so you won’t have to throw them out next Summer.
  • very competitively priced at R370 per pair. I’ve seen plastic sandals that cost more.

The stunning brogues in my Old Biscuit Mill post are also made by Kate & Allie. Will definitely keep looking them up when I visit the Mill.
