Here are some glimpses of a tutu skirt I just bought. When I first saw these skirts in the shops they immediately caught my eye. Could it be that all girls are naturally drawn to tulle? My first thoughts were that it might look too goth or I might be too old for it. I decided to ignore the voices in my head and buy one! I think we should not be afraid to have fun with clothing and express ourselves through the way we dress.

skirt: Foschini; shoes: Levis; tights: Cameo;
I received some handy advice to pair the skirt with softer colours or polka dots to create a whimsical effect.
How are you feeling about tutu skirts? What would you wear them with?
Also, thanks to everyone who nominated me for the SA Blog Awards. It is very much appreciated!

I have been very fascinated by some of the recent trends including clogs, over-the-knee socks, denim shirts and doc martens/lace-up boots. The reason for this fascination is that all of these trends were popular when I was a pre-teen to teen in the 90s. Seeing all these trends reinvent themselves today brings back very fond memories for me as a young girl starting to discover fashion.
Crochet is one of the trends that were very popular when I was younger. I remember owning and loving a white crochet top very much at the age of 10. They were extremely trendy in Cape Town at the time. Although I loved my crochet top I was undecided on whether I’d indulge in crochet this time around. After seeing some pictures of different bloggers wearing crochet in very different ways it got me thinking that there is a crochet style for everyone.

What do you think of the crochet trend and how would you wear it?

Sometimes I see a certain item of clothing for the first time and I get extremely excited. This is how I felt when I saw this long length leather skirt on Vanessa Jackman’s blog. Needless to say, I really want a leather skirt! I love how the ladies in these photos styled their skirts. It definitely breaks away from the traditional view of leather skirts which is either tacky or bulky.

What do you think of the leather skirt trend?
