One Cape Please

Winter is approaching and I am scared of how lacking my Winter wardrobe is. This is why I am on the lookout for some Winter gear. I definitely want to add a cape to my Winter collection. Now, I wonder if any of the South African shops will stock them.

Beautiful Vintage dress, come unto me

I’ve been ogling so many vintage dresses on Etsy. I definitely want a 50s full skirted dress, but I have no idea where I’d wear it to. I only know that I would feel very special and lady-like in a dress that comes from that era. The possibility of who wore the dress and what happened when she wore it is such a romantic concept. Wearing vintage is definitely a whole other experience than wearing something new.

Here are some of my favourite dresses found on Etsy:

Leather Jacket Obsession

I’ve been bookmarking my favourite looks on street style blogs for the past couple of weeks and I noticed a pattern. Most of the looks contain leather jackets! If I haven’t said this before on this blog then I am saying it now, I love leather! This pattern proves it. We can see from these looks that a little biker’s jacket looks great with various feminine looks. It definitely adds some edge to an outfit and makes it more noticeable. I don’t think there is a substitute for real leather. The best thing about it is that it’s a lifetime investment.

Even though Spring is here in South Africa, I don’t think we need to say goodbye to leather jackets just yet. I think they’re an easy way to keep warm on a the chillier Spring or even Summer nights. I’ve owned many leather jackets and found that I could wear them all year. These little jackets look especially good with floral dresses which are undoubtedly very popular already in South Africa.

Shopping with me

Today was a quite a busy admin-filled day for me. When the paperwork and queuing was done I did some light shopping. I thought I’d share some of my buys and almost buys with you.

I found two dresses that fit very nicely. I think fit is extremely important. If something does not fit right then it can be very uncomfortable to wear. I also bought a pair of wedges. I’m looking forward to wearing these when Spring arrives, but will layer them up if I have to wait too long!

I surprised myself today because I shopped at Ackermans and Bata which I don’t usually do. It shows that you can overlook no shop as it might surprise you. Below are three dresses I fitted on but didn’t buy. They are lovely, but the fit was slightly out for me.

Mr Price Black and Gold Maxi dress, Ackermans black and pink floral dress, Ackermans stripe and floral dress

I wore a very comfy and simple outfit while running errands and shopping. Even though the outfit is plain, it’s still very me. I think it is very important to embrace your own style as much as possible because it makes you feel more you. Hope that makes sense!
