Face Hunter Book Signing

So the Face Hunter came to Cape Town and everybody went a bit bonkers. It was Face Hunter this and Face Hunter that everywhere. I must admit that to me it was exciting. I’ve admired his blog and been a faithful follower since the first time I saw it. Rueben and I went to his book signing held at Studio One in Bree Street. We listened to his talk and I got to meet him when I got my book signed. It was interesting to hear what he had to say. I read most of what he had to say either in his book or in articles, but there were some new things. When asked what’s next in the blogging world he said that he thinks there will be networks of bloggers like the networks they have on TV. I asked him what his favourite blog is and he fumbled a little. He doesn’t read much blogs, but answered his friend’s blog “Showmanship” because it includes fashion and art. I’ll have to Google it.

It was a fun night all in all. I got to see some of my blogger friends including Michelle, Jasna, Aisha and Aqeelah. I also liked seeing how all the stylish people were dressed.

I love Kansas Couture

I’ve found some of my favourite blogs by the recommendation of other bloggers. I thought that it’s time I started to share some of the blogs I love with you. I love Katy’s blog, Kansas Couture. She has great style and knows how to put an outfit together. I find her outfits accessible and really inspirational to someone who is trying to dress for work everyday. The Face Hunter is coming to Cape Town

I often wondered when popular street style photographer Ivan Rodic of Face Hunter would come to Africa and it’s finally happening. He will be in Cape Town from 14-21 March 2011. I am very eager to see Capetonians on his blog and I am glad that the world will be able to see some Cape Town style! According to his blog, there will be a book signing on 17 March and I hope to get my book signed. So, the question is Will You Get Face Hunted?

Design For Style

On Friday I attended the first Design For Style(DFS) Fashion Show for 2011. Naturally, I enjoyed it. It’s a fashion show after all and it’s no secret that I am a fashion enthusiast. What made me enjoy it even more is the fact that DFS aims at showcasing up and coming South African designers. I do have a soft spot for South African designers and often try to support their work.

The fashion show was held at Misael’s Art Gallery in Bree Street Cape Town. It was definitely the perfect place to hold a fashion show as it was spacious and had a bar! The designs of Zakirah Rabaney was the first to be shown. Her label is called pro*Zak and contains some bold, colourful, sexy and quirky items. I chatted to Zakirah afterwards and she described her collection as “M.I.A“. I couldn’t agree more. Here are my favourite looks from her collection:

Next up was the styling of Aqeelah Harron and Gabrielle Kannemeyer of Thrift Cape Town. It is very evident that these ladies have bright futures ahead of them. When the first model came up I found myself wanting the entire outfit and this happened repeatedly until the end of the show. These ladies sell their vintage finds via Facebook and after seeing my favourite looks below I am sure you’ll want friend them.

Fashion Love Story Launch

I recently attended the launch of designer Leandra Do Pereiro‘s Fashion Love Story’s range. Lot’s of pretty ladies were there and I got to meet up with some of the Cape Town bloggers including Alison, Aqeelah, Aisha, Jasna, Sheri Lee and Raya. I always love meeting bloggers. It’s still very weird to meet someone that you feel you already know because you read their blog.

Leandra’s range was very cute and included lots of bows and studs which I liked. We also learnt about some amazing prices up for grabs in the month of February. Follow on Twitter or Facebook for more info.
