I always wanted to feature the style of others on this blog and finally here it is! We spotted these fashionable ladies at the DFS Fashion Show. Don’t they look great?

I didn’t have Valentine’s Day in mind when I chose this outfit but it certainly looks that way, doesn’t it? The red shoes and the hearts all scream Valentine’s Day. I don’t celebrate it but this outfit shows that I clearly don’t mind dressing for it. I spend the day celebrating my brother’s birthday. He is 13 this year so it’s a special one. To all the lovers out there, Happy Valentine’s day. Hope it’s magical!

On Friday I attended the first Design For Style(DFS) Fashion Show for 2011. Naturally, I enjoyed it. It’s a fashion show after all and it’s no secret that I am a fashion enthusiast. What made me enjoy it even more is the fact that DFS aims at showcasing up and coming South African designers. I do have a soft spot for South African designers and often try to support their work.
The fashion show was held at Misael’s Art Gallery in Bree Street Cape Town. It was definitely the perfect place to hold a fashion show as it was spacious and had a bar! The designs of Zakirah Rabaney was the first to be shown. Her label is called pro*Zak and contains some bold, colourful, sexy and quirky items. I chatted to Zakirah afterwards and she described her collection as “M.I.A“. I couldn’t agree more. Here are my favourite looks from her collection:

Next up was the styling of Aqeelah Harron and Gabrielle Kannemeyer of Thrift Cape Town. It is very evident that these ladies have bright futures ahead of them. When the first model came up I found myself wanting the entire outfit and this happened repeatedly until the end of the show. These ladies sell their vintage finds via Facebook and after seeing my favourite looks below I am sure you’ll want friend them.

You can join DFS’s Facebook page for info on upcoming shows as well as a sale they’re having on the 26th February 2011 at Capellos. If you’re a new designer South African designer, drop them a line.

I recently attended the launch of designer Leandra Do Pereiro‘s Fashion Love Story’s range. Lot’s of pretty ladies were there and I got to meet up with some of the Cape Town bloggers including Alison, Aqeelah, Aisha, Jasna, Sheri Lee and Raya. I always love meeting bloggers. It’s still very weird to meet someone that you feel you already know because you read their blog.
Leandra’s range was very cute and included lots of bows and studs which I liked. We also learnt about some amazing prices up for grabs in the month of February. Follow on Twitter or Facebook for more info.

The winner of the alice band giveaway is Kate! Congrats Kate, your prize will be on it’s way soon. Watch this space for the next giveaway. I think you’re going to like it!
