It has been extremely windy in Cape Town as of late. This is why my hair is all over the place in these pics. So, no I wasn’t head-banging or anything. I have a new best friend, this green-striped romper. It’s comfy, unique and it’s not a dress. I was not in the mood for dresses this weekend, perhaps because of the wind. I bought it from an Etsy Shop called Vintage Strings. I loved it at first sight, but I was unsure of how it would fit and how long it would take to get to SA. It turned out to fit perfectly and it took under a month to get to me. So, not too bad. For those of you South African ladies who have been reluctant to buy on Etsy, I say don’t be.

Have you notice that I have been using the bottom of posts for news? There is a picture of me over here on my favourite Cape Town street style blog, Cinder and Skylark. I started a Facebook page for my blog here, so please “like” if you do. My Summer lust list was featured here on Style Scoop. Last but not least, I am excited to announce that I have another giveaway coming up very soon!

I attended the Cape Town Blogger’s Get Together earlier and I really had a great time! It was held at The Field Office and was very well organised by Cal of Fable Fairy. It was a lovely experience to get to meet the people behind many blogs that I read. I also learnt about blogs I haven’t read before and I will be hitting Google very soon so I can find them. There was raffle and some lucky bloggers won Vamp Furniture, a Tashkaya dress, Le Crueset cookware and Nomu treats just to name a few. The lovely Vicky from I Want That was the key note speaker for the night. I enjoyed her speech about 10 things she learnt about a year of blogging. She offered some helpful tips and I could relate to a lot of what she was saying. The even-more-gorgeous-in-person Samantha Laura Kaye did an excellent job of being MC for the evening.
All in all, I got to chat to my “blogger friends” and I had fun! I didn’t get to speak to everyone so I hope there are more events like these in the future. Here are some shots that Rueben so kindly took while I was chatting away.

The prizes…

So, I like dresses. Can you tell? Haha, I haven’t always been such a dress lover. I think it happened over the past two years. I’ve grown to like how I feel in a dress which is feminine and comfy. I do wear pants a lot when I go to work or when it’s too cold for a dress. I bought this one at the Chatuchak Market in the vintage section. So, this dress could be vintage or just second hand or new. Okay, I don’t know but I know I love it. It’s quite different to the other dresses I own because of it’s puffy sleeves and big buttons. Have you bought any pretty dresses/clothing lately? I am swooning over a Fifties inspired dress I saw at YDE. I’m still wondering if I should buy it or not…

Wednesday is the Cape Town Bloggers Party. If you’re a Capetonian Blogger than I am looking forward to seeing you there. I should start checking if I have a dress to wear to that.

I really discovered my love for beautiful places this year. When I was younger I had other interests, but now I seek out pretty places. Being in beautiful surroundings relaxes and inspires me. So, just before we left on holiday Rueben and I were at Cavendish Square sorting out some admin and I suggested that we go to the Arderne Gardens which is just down the road. I hadn’t been there in years but found that it was pretty much the same and still as lovely as ever. This one particular tree attracted me as I think it is quite iconic. I remember as a child seeing so many wedding pictures taken at this tree and it actually made me laugh. I remembered the awful 80s outfits and hair and how each flower girl sat between the roots of the tree. I think it was a must to take a picture at this tree during that era. I actually found out that this is the oldest tree [edit: not oldest but biggest ] in the Western Cape. You can’t get more iconic than that!

It was a hot day and I what’s easier than a comfy top and a denim shorts?
In other news, the lovely Bobby interviewed me here. Also, I recently added the Google Friend Connect/Follow widget to my blog. I didn’t know that this could be done for WordPress blogs, but I Googled and found that it could. So, if you’re using Google/Blogger and you read my blog then please click “Follow” in the side bar. For those of you who want to do the same for your self-hosted WordPress blog then go to http://www.google.co.za/friendconnect and click “Get Started”.
