Yet another perk of blogging is finding out about local talent. Megan McFall of Starbright Girl is an example of this talent! I instantly fell in love with her jewellery when I saw her shop. There are so many pieces out of her collection that I must have! Megan is a jewellery designer from Durban and her shop is filled with retro and pop-culture inspired gems. She used resin, silver and perspex and each piece is specially handmade.
A lucky Embracing Style reader will win these gorgeous sterling silver heart studs. To enter, simply leave a comment on this post saying what your favourite item from Starbright Girl Jewellery Etsy Shop or Starbright Silver Jewellery Etsy Shop is.

This giveaway closes on 27 September 2010 and the winner will be announced on 28 September 2010. The winner will be chosen randomly and will be notified by email. Anyone can enter this giveaway. Good luck!

Cape Town weather has gone back to wind and rain. That means my Spring dresses have to stay unused. I can’t say that I am very happy about this, but I suppose I can wait a bit longer. I looked to past outfits for some inspiration and found this. I wore this earlier in the year and it makes me look forward to warmer weather.

I actually wore this dress here, so this serves as much my own little remix. I hope you have a lovely weekend!

Saturday was all about rediscovering my city. I spent some time visiting places that I had forgotten about. I’m very happy with how the day went. I left feeling inspired and energised. After the market mentioned in my previous post, Rueben and I took a stroll through the Company Gardens. I honestly didn’t know what to expect as I haven’t been there in years. It turned out to be as lovely and inviting as ever. I wore a floral dress with a necklace and skinny belt to add a little something extra. This outfit actually got me in the Spring mood, well that coupled with the lovely weather.

We decided to pay the National Art Gallery a visit. I faintly remembered visiting it a long time ago and really enjoyed it this time around. Entry will actually be free from 20-26 September in celebration of Heritage Week, so it’s a good excuse to visit if you haven’t in a while. Rueben snapped some lovely pics while we were there. These are my favourites. The last one is a pic of the Gardens which I think captured the environment quite accurately.

I hope you enjoyed the little tour of the Company Gardens and Gallery. Thanks again to all of you for leaving the best comments on my posts! I truly appreciate each and every one of them. Watch this space for a brand new giveaway coming soon!

The sun was out this weekend and Cape Town was radiant. I had an amazing day on Saturday which started off at the You & Me & Everyone We Know Market at the Labia theatre in Town. This is a lovely little market where you can buy lots of vintage clothing at good prices. It’s quite a small market but filled with little gems. I especially loved Fable Fairy‘s jewellery. I acutally recognised the name from a blog that I discovered last week. So, I got to meet another blogger!

I love markets and love taking pics of the goods for sale. I hope you enjoyed these. I have a few more markets that I haven’t yet attended and will definitely post about them when I do visit. Saturday turned out to be quite eventful so I decided to split it into two blog posts. Stay tuned for part 2 which includes an outfit post.

I could probably write a thesis about shoes, so I’ll try to keep this short! I bought these lovely sandals at the Biscuit Mill last Saturday. They are handmade and genuine leather sandals by Kate & Allie. I was so happy to find them as I have been searching for a pair of flat leather sandals. For me, a pair of flat leather sandals are essential for the South African Summer. There is nothing like leather because it looks good and lasts long. There are lots of leather sandals in the shops now but I specifically love these because they are:
- comfy, ie. the sole is padded not just a thin surface like so many sandals these days have.
- more classic than trendy so you won’t have to throw them out next Summer.
- very competitively priced at R370 per pair. I’ve seen plastic sandals that cost more.

The stunning brogues in my Old Biscuit Mill post are also made by Kate & Allie. Will definitely keep looking them up when I visit the Mill.
