My Winter Go-To

This is basically what I wore to work this Winter. On colder days I’d wear a coat for more warmth. I think I developed a kind of uniform when it came to dressing for work. This uniform comprised of T-shirt, cardigan, comfy jeans and ankle boots. Each piece was very comfortable as I basically have no dress code to work.

Just as I did when I went to school, I got bored of my Winter work uniform and I am now looking forward to warmer days which are coming slowly but surely. I’ve already started wearing pumps and cardigans with short sleeve tops. I definitely don’t want to create another uniform though! Do you also tend to create a uniform for yourself from time to time?

Just had to share

I’ve been reading Estefany’s blog, Helmet Head for some time and was lucky enough to win a giveaway she hosted. I was excited to hear that I won as I knew she was giving away some nice prizes to celebrate her blog’s first birthday. I received the the prizes in the post a few days ago and all I can say is that it really warmed my heart. Not only were the prizes great, but she put so much effort into them that it really made me feel special. I know I sound very cheesy right now, but I find it quite amazing that blogging has the power to connect people that live so far away from each other. Thanks Estefany! Your parcel made my day!

Not So Casual Braai Day Outfit

I hope my fellow South Africans had a great long weekend. I love long weekends. It seems that they always come at times when you really feel you need a break. This is the outfit I wore on Heritage/Braai day. This isn’t what one would usually wear to a braai(barbecue), but I see nothing wrong with dressing up a little on these occasions. In my defense, this was worn on a Braai Day/birthday celebration. I’ve never really been a jeans and tackies kind of girl anyway. That being said, I always try to dress comfortably.

I love this grey studded dress. I bought it on a lunch break when I ran away from work one day and didn’t fit it on until I got home. It turned out to fit really well and was definitely one of my better spontaneous purchases. I find that this dress provides a very easy way to make up a pretty outfit. The second last picture is of my new Starbright girl earrings. They are definitely the cutest earrings I own and are my new obsession! I think they added a nice touch to the outfit. If you haven’t entered yet, tomorrow(Monday) will be the last day to enter my Starbright Girl earrings giveaway.

A little bit of History

South Africans will be celebrating Heritage Day on Friday and a group of bloggers including myself decided to write a post about our favourite childhood outfit or toy in honour of it. I really liked the idea when Fable Fairy first emailed me. I figured that I was a cute kid and thought I could find some old pictures of me in pretty dresses to show you. I was mistaken because it turns out that the only photo I could find is the one that makes me laugh the most! It’s me in a pink two piece outfit with beads at the ends. I would be lying to you if I told you that I didn’t love this ensemble. It made a noise when I danced and jumped around and it was awesome! Sadly at the time I cared more about entertainment than fashion. I also see that someone put on bright pink lipstick for me to match the dress! Thanks to the family member who did that, much appreciated!

Young me

In line with this childhood theme I thought I’d bring up the dress my granny gave me when I was 12. Some of you might remember it. No, that’s not me when I was 12. That’s me now. I kept it all this time. It’s still one of my favourites!

Now, we were supposed to write about our favourite outfit, but I can’t really remember having one. I do remember having a favourite jacket though. I was the proud owner of a blue suede cowboy jacket with fringe on the arms! I really did love that jacket because no one else had one like it. Well, besides my sister of course who had a black and brown one in a smaller version. My mom made them for us and they were super cool. Sadly, I don’t have a photo of me in it but I have been spotting many fringed goodies coming back into fashion. They caught me eye because they remind me of my blue one which made me feel like I could fly when I lifted my arms! I clearly loved clothes with a little something extra.

I hope all the South Africans enjoy Heritage Day and have a lovely braai (barbeque). Check out the other blog posts on this theme on the following Proudly SA blogs: Fable Fairy, Glossary, Bobbylicious, Gorilla is my friend, Kiss This Twice, Lucky Pony, Cookie Jar and Farm Girl. Happy Reading! I can’t wait to my fellow bloggers’ retro pics!
