End of Season

Winter has almost come to an end and I am craving Spring. At the end of every season I become very eager to wear next season’s clothing. When Winter started I could not wait to wear coats, boots and tights and now I am looking forward to wearing sandals and dresses. This is what I wore on Saturday. Maybe this will be the last of my Winter outfits for the year. Somehow I doubt it though, it seems to me that Cape Town is going to hold on to Winter for a little while longer.

Mr Price

It’s no secret that I love Mr Price. A friend once called Mr Price my dealer! This is one South African store that I can’t do without. Almost every time I walk in I end up walking out with something. There is no telling what would happen if they started an online store. I could not be held responsible for my actions!

Back in June, the Mr Price blog had a photo competition. They called for readers to send in photos of themselves wearing a Mr Price item. I entered and I won! I was extremely excited about this and could not believe I was picked! The prize was a Fujifilm Instax Mini camera. You can see the camera and my entries here.

I have certainly carried on wearing Mr Price since the competition which is evident in the picture below. Each and every outfit contains at least one Mr Price item. Lots of people tend to tell me that my clothing does not look like it comes from Mr Price. I think that maybe these people associate expensive clothing with things that look good. You can just look at the photos of South African bloggers to realise that this is not true. Affordable can also look great! Thanks Mr Price, don’t ever change!

When I heard I won the camera, I immediately thought that I would take a drive and take pictures of pretty sights in Cape Town. I changed my mind when I took a picture of my dad, which is the first picture below. I realised that I wanted to use this camera to take pictures of loved ones. It’s so precious to watch them pose and then become so excited when they see the picture coming out of the camera! I still have lots more pictures to take as some family members and friends insist that they need to put on make up or dress up when I take a picture of them!

I hope you have a great weekend! I am once again eagerly looking forward to this weekend and to Spring. I also want to ask you one last time to nominate me for the South African Blog Awards if you would like to! Tomorrow(Friday) is the last day for nominations. Thanks to all who have nominated already and who entered the giveaway below. If you haven’t entered the giveaway yet, you can still do so. There is plenty of time!

My first giveaway

I am so very excited to the first giveaway on Embracing Style! Ila Security has kindly sponsored an ila DUSK Personal Alarm to be given away to one of my lovely readers! The ila DUSK Personal Alarm is a nifty gadget that can be used as a bag charm or key ring and when pulled emits a very loud sound at 130db. Personally I have always planned on buying something that would help me if I ever got into an unfortunate situation. I haven’t come across a product like this before would be keen on buying one. Why? Because it’s discreet with a stylish design and is easy to use.

All you have to do to enter is:

  • Leave a comment on this post saying what you think of the ila DUSK Personal Alarm.

It’s that easy. Anyone can enter and I will choose the winner randomly. Giveaway ends on Thursday 2 September and winner will be announced on 3 September 2010. Good luck!

On another note, the lovely Lauren has interviewed me and you can read it here. Also, Diana has kindly included a list of things I like here and I was included in the Hypeed Day at the Beach feature here. Needless to say this week has been very exciting for me thus far! Thanks to everyone who takes the time to read and comment on my blog. I truly appreciate it! One last thing, if you would like to nominate me for the South African Blog Awards you can do so by clicking here. Nominations close on Friday!

Before and After

I read Carrie’s tutorial on Wish Wish Wish and just had to try it out. I don’t edit any of the photos on this blog mostly because I have no idea how, so I was quite eager to see how they would come out. I was happy with the results and became a bit addicted! These are some of the photos I edited over the past week. The first one is of the outfit I wore today. It was raining all weekend, but we managed to take a few outfit pics earlier.

Going Green

I tend to go through stages where I am obsessed with certain colours. This Winter I really had to stop myself from buying everything in brown. A couple of years ago I felt the same way about green. Since then it has been one of my favourite colours.

It could be because Spring is around the corner, but I am once again completely besotted with shades of green. Here are some images that rekindled my love for it.
