Sublime Sunday

We had a lovely sunny Winter’s day in Cape Town today. Days like these are the best because it is not too hot or cold. I have been envying the amazing flea markets I see on American blogs and decided that today would be a great day to find something similar in Cape Town. I Googled and found the Milnerton Flea Market. This is by far my favourite flea market in Cape Town. There are mostly second hand and vintage goods on sale and the prices are very cheap. My favourite items of the day were vintage telephones, cameras and bags. I bought a vintage leather bag for R5! It needs some TLC, but I am sure I’ll have it looking outfit worthy in no time. Another great thing about this flea market is that it has a beautiful view of table mountain. I will be going back for sure because I saw some desks and jewellery boxes that I am interested in.

After the flea market my boyfriend and I decided to go for some sushi in Green Point. We stopped along the way at this huge statue to take some outfit pics. I wore another comfy outfit including a high waisted denim shorts and oxfords. I was keeping these shorts for Summer but then I realised that I could just wear them with tights to keep warm.

Nostalgia

Winter is in full blast in Cape Town and I am finding myself longing for sunny skies, ice-cream and sandals. Coats, warm blankets and hot chocolate are great but sometimes I wish I could take a break from Winter and have just one Summer day. Of course, this is impossible so I did the next best thing which was look through the photos taken on a warm Summer’s day.

On a Sunday earlier this year I was looking for something new and different to do. After some Googling I decided to visit the Chart Farm in Wynberg. The Chart Farm has a rose garden where you can pick your own roses. There is also has a coffee shop where you can buy very big slices of cake! We basked in the sun at the coffee shop and then proceeded to pick some roses. It was really a lovely and relaxing day and I will definitely be going back once Winter has left us! I wore a nautical inspired dress with a pair flats. I am looking forward to wearing this dress again in Summer.

You can see from the photos that the views were excellent and picking your own roses are very cheap. Okay, now enough with the summer daydreams. Back to the blankets and hot chcolate I go!

Finished product

All the sweet comments I received on my scarf post motivated me to finish the scarf I’ve been knitting. I am very happy with the end result. It’s very bulky and warm which is just what I wanted.

This scarf took me very long to knit! I kept on forgetting about it and picking it up for about two years. I became so used to knitting it and now I miss it! I will now move on to a needlework project that I have been neglecting for some time. Hopefully that won’t take as long.

After the rain

We had a rain-filled weekend in Cape Town and mine was spent mostly indoors watching TV series. It was lovely! I enjoy relaxing and staying warm when the weather gets like that but after a while I feel like I wasted time because I didn’t get to go out. After the rain stopped my boyfriend and I decided to go for some coffee and take a drive. This is what I wore.

Blazer:Zoot; jersey:Zara(bought at Pep!); scarf:old; jeans:River Island; belt: Mr Price; boots:Luella;

I wore a very simple outfit. Good old bootleg jeans, jersey, scarf and blazer. As I said before I am loving browns this Winter. I got these brown leather boots on sale at Luella for R200! I think it is one of my best bargains ever. The blazer was also a bargain at R130 at Zoot. I must admit I actually saw it for R50 afterwards. Don’t you just hate when that happens?

On another note, congrats to Spain on winning the World Cup! I am really going to miss all the soccer hype and celebration.

Yes, I knit

I read in a magazine quite a while ago that knitting was “in”. I’ve been knitting since I was 8 and thought, “Finally!”. A lot of people say that fashion fades, but style remains. If that is the case then knitting is very much my style. Here is some snippets of a scarf I am almost done with.

I must say that people find it weird that I knit, but after reading blogs where people make things to sell and craft is more celebrated than berated I feel like I am in good company!

Have a great weekend!
