My friend’s wedding as well as some unfortunate and very old pictures of me on Facebook got me thinking. I love following trends as much as the next girl, but perhaps for important occasions like weddings and matric balls it is best to go for a more classic look. I remember wearing a very trendy outfit to a matric ball and I looked great on the night. Now when I look at the pics I cringe!
What could be more classic than the LBD? The ladies wearing LBDs in the Facebook pictures looked stylish and chic, which is much more than I can say for myself. It certainly does stand the test of time. This is what I wore to another friend’s wedding earlier this year. I think that these won’t make me cringe in years to come.

I have been very fascinated by some of the recent trends including clogs, over-the-knee socks, denim shirts and doc martens/lace-up boots. The reason for this fascination is that all of these trends were popular when I was a pre-teen to teen in the 90s. Seeing all these trends reinvent themselves today brings back very fond memories for me as a young girl starting to discover fashion.
Crochet is one of the trends that were very popular when I was younger. I remember owning and loving a white crochet top very much at the age of 10. They were extremely trendy in Cape Town at the time. Although I loved my crochet top I was undecided on whether I’d indulge in crochet this time around. After seeing some pictures of different bloggers wearing crochet in very different ways it got me thinking that there is a crochet style for everyone.

What do you think of the crochet trend and how would you wear it?
